Roadworks on Highway 7 starting

Promised roadworks to improve the Highway 7 stretch are about to begin.

The Ministry of Transport, Works and Water Resources (MTWWR) announced on Friday the upgrading of the surface will begin next Monday, in sections, starting with Phase One from Skeetes Road to the vicinity of Rockley Terrace.

The work, which comprises milling – the removal of existing asphalt –, is expected to last about a week, pending weather or any unforeseen challenges.

C. O. Williams Construction Ltd is the contractor on the job and the ministry has indicated that between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. when work is being done, vehicular access will be restricted to public transportation, as well as local and emergency vehicles. Motorists have been advised to divert at either Rendezvous Hill or Dayrells Road and proceed along Golf Club Road.

Nearby residences and businesses should expect some noise and dust. The team will implement dust control measures.

All of Highway 7 will be opened during the day; however, motorists have been advised they may experience delays as the road surface will be removed between Skeetes Road and Rockley Terrace.
