The 21-year-old daughter of Member of Parliament Neil Rowe has been granted $75 000 bail on drug and money laundering charges. Tonneil Neshan Rashida Rowe, of Kew Road, Tudor Bridge, St Michael, appeared before Magistrate Carolyn Ward Sargeant in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after being charged in connection with almost a quarter-million dollars worth of cannabis following an investigation by the Narcotics Division of the Barbados Police Service. Rowe, who arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport on a flight from Canada on Saturday, is charged with possession, trafficking, importation and intent to supply 30.45 kilogrammes of cannabis valued at $243 600. She is also accused of committing money laundering involving $10,599.22. Rowe, who secured bail with one surety, is scheduled to return to court on February 20. Though declining to speak about the case, attorney-at-law Michael Lashley SC told reporters outside the court: “I cannot speak to the merits of the case but what I can say is that we would be applying for pre-trial disclosures from the Commissioner of Police and then we will take further instructions from our client.” “Apart from that, we will do our best in the interest of our client and also to ensure that justice is served.” Lashley is also part of the legal team representing MP Rowe who has been committed to stand trial in the High Court for allegedly raping a woman on September 18, 2022’.
