A total of 3 011 students are set to sit this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) Today, according to Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw.

And she offered them words of advice and encouragement on the eve of the annual test, commonly known as the Common Entrance or 11-plus exam.

“Remember this exam is just one step in your educational journey, and no matter the outcome, the adventure of learning continues. Approach each challenge you face as an opportunity to grow and to learn. As you prepare to take this particular test, keep in mind that learning is not confined to the classroom or to a single examination, it is a lifelong pursuit that enriches your mind and spirit,” she said in a video message on Monday.

“Be curious, ask questions, and seek knowledge in every aspect of your life. No matter where your journey takes you, use your education to become not only successful individuals but also compassionate and responsible global citizens with Bajan roots, making positive contributions to the world around you.”

The education chief added: “Believe in yourself, stay focused, and approach this challenge with determination and resilience. Take a moment today to show appreciation to your teachers who guided you, and to your parents who continue to support you in all endeavours.”

The 1 493 males and 1 518 females sitting the exam will do so at the island’s 21 public secondary schools.

As a result, there will be no classes for students of those schools.
