Gladiola, Wildey battle for BCA T20 Cup

The victorious Malvern team which defeated Foundation to capture the Intermediate T20 Shield Championship. (GP)

First-time finalists Wildey will be seeking to dethrone Superb Blend Gladiola in the BCA Elite/Division 1 Twenty20 Cup showdown at KMV Oval, Lakes in St Andrew tomorrow.

But Gladiola are no doubt eager to prove their white-ball dominance of last season. After defeating Bayview Hospital YMPC by five wickets with seven balls remaining in the T20 Cup final at Weymouth, the Rices, St Philip team captured the Super Cup as well, beating Wildey by 126 runs (DLS method) at KMV Oval.

Gladiola were also the T20 Cup champions in 2020.

They boast of this year’s leading wicket-taker, left-arm spinner Matthew Jones. He has 18 wickets at an average of 6.61 with an economy rate of 4.96.

Malvern capture T20 Shield
Premium Imports Inc. Malvern beat Foundation by seven wickets with one over remaining in the final to capture the Intermediate division T20 Shield Championship at Friendship last Saturday.

Chasing 176 to win, Malvern were spurred by an unbroken fourth wicket partnership of 121 in 13.4 overs between Player-of-the- Match Jhavid Forde, who made 82 not out off 53 balls with 11 fours and one six and Todd Miller, who scored an unbeaten 52 off 42 deliveries including six fours and one six.
