Family of Foul Bay stabbing victim in shock

Family members and friends of 31-year-old Javan Burton are in mourning following his death in a stabbing incident at Foul Bay, St. Philip, over the weekend.

When Barbados TODAY visited the home he shared with his family in Ocean City, St Philip, his mother, Marsha Burton, was a sight of grief and disbelief.

Still in shock, she described the period as “the worst time of her life”, calling for answers and insisting her son did not deserve what happened.

Javan, described by many as helpful and kind, was one of two men fatally injured in the incident.
Family friend Eleanor Rayside, who considered him like a grandson, said she is struggling to accept the news.
“He was kind. You could call him for anything,” she said.

Foul Bay resident Sandra Petite recalled meeting Javan and said that even as a stranger, he showed her nothing but kindness.

The family is being supported by Reverend Cameron Connolly, a pastor and long-time friend.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.
