Barbadian student shines in Commonwealth essay competition

Harrison College student Joshua Bolden has earned a silver award for his essay in the junior category of the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition for 2024. His essay was in the top 15 per cent of entries.

The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, which is the world’s oldest international writing competition for young people since 1883, is hosted by the Royal Commonwealth Society.

Joshua’s submission was among 35 000 entries from the Commonwealth, which consists of 56 countries. His essay was the only entry from Barbados.

The Trustees and Chairman of the Commonwealth Society of Barbados congratulated Joshua on his impressive achievement.

President Dame Sandra Mason, who is Patron and a life member of The Commonwealth Society of Barbados, recently presented a certificate to Joshua at State House. (BGIS)
