Defending champs West Terrace Primary advance to quarter finals

Neymar Forde scored the game’s only goal as defending champions West Terrace Primary defeated Reynold Weekes 1-0 to book a place in the quarter-finals of the National Sports Council/BICO Primary School Football Competition.

In another of Friday’s Round of 16 matches at Greens Playing Field in St George, last year’s runners-up Arthur Smith Primary also advanced to the next round, but only after edging St Paul’s Primary 4-3 on penalties.

Earlier in regulation time, Zeshawn Shorey completed a hattrick for St Paul’s, while Arthur Smith got goals from Jakkori Best and Tristan Carew-Stephens, while also benefiting from an own goal.

Tyree Cumberbatch and Cameron Hope were on target, as St George Primary defeated Bernard’s Primary 2-0 to advance to the quarter finals, while Deacons Primary got goals from Adrian Allen and Jaylen Fenty, as they booked their passage with a 2-0 win over Roland Edwards.

In Thursday’s action, goals from Amari Callender, Jovanni Bascombe and Shakir Perch, saw Milton Lynch defeating All Saints Primary 3-0.

Wesley Hall also advanced to the quarter finals, following a 2-0 victory over Hitz 106.7 FM Bay Primary. Shaquri Burgess and Tazarie Marshall got the goals for the winners.

In another encounter Sirr Dash got the lone goal, as St Stephen’s got past Blackman and Gollop 1-0, while Tashim Welch’s goal for St Cyprians was decisive, as they advanced to the quarter finals following 1-0 victory over Providence.

The quarterfinals on June 15 at Greens promise even more exciting action.

St Stephen’s will face Milton Lynch, while St Cyprians oppose Wesley Hall and Deacons tackle St George. 

The biggest clash of the day will, however, be the rematch of last year’s final between West Terrace and Arthur Smith Primary. Both teams have been unbeaten so far this year and will be desperate to book a spot in the semi-finals, which are scheduled for the Barbados Football Association’s Technical Centre on June 18. 

The final is scheduled for the Technical Centre on June 27.
