Francis to undergo assessment

Doctors at the Psychiatric Hospital will over the next three weeks conduct assessments to determine whether accused Kirk Douglas Francis is fit to plead to three criminal charges in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

When the 37-year-old man appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick this morning he appeared not to be in the frame of mind to answer the charges and was remanded to the Black Rock, St Michael institution until January 18, 2019.

Francis is charged with entering the house of Merita Francis, his mother, on Christmas Day and stealing a vase and artificial flowers totaling $400 and two bottles of rum worth
$12 belonging to Charles Worrell on Christmas Eve. He is also accused of assaulting Worrell on December 23.
