Police on the beat in St Michael districts

Residents of the Brittons Hill and Valery, St Michael communities welcomed a refreshing visit from members of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) who listened to their concerns about a recent spate of gun violence.

Station Sergeant Philip Trotman of the Hastings Police Station told Barbados TODAY that in light of recent shootings, police officers went into the communities to allay residents’ fears and let them know that police were on top of the situation.

Police officers conducted door-to-door visits in St Michael communities today.

“We were walking through to give members of the community a sense that police are still here and are concerned about any issues that they would have had because of the reports,” Station Sergeant Trotman said.

He noted that gun violence was not unique to Valery and Brittons Hill, since it was an issue that was taking place across the island.

“But we were getting a number of reports about the concerns in the community. So that is why we did a door-to-door visit. We went to these two areas because this is where members of the communities tend to hang out and where there are blocks,” he said.

Police involved in the walkthrough were community officers of the Bridgetown Division.
