$10,000 bail for alleged fraudster

A 44-year-old jackhammer operator accused of fraud was granted $10,000 bail today.

It is alleged that on January 24, 2019 David O’neale Willoughby, of Fairy Valley, Christ Church uttered a CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank (Barbados) Limited bill of exchange purporting to be a RBC Royal Bank (Barbados) Limited cheque made payable to him for $18,988.98 knowing it to be forged.

He was not required to plead to the charge as it allegedly occurred in the District ‘B’ jurisdiction. The accused will appear in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court on March 12 to answer the charge.

He is also charged with obtaining the money between January 29 and February 8, 2019 in the District ‘A’ jurisdiction and disposing of the “proceeds of crime”.

Willoughby was not required to plead to the two indictable charges when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick this morning.

However, with no objections to bail he was released after his surety was accepted by the court.

The accused will make his second appearance before Magistrate Frederick on July 23, 2019.
