After five matches the University of the West Indies Blackbirds finally scored their first win, defeating Brittons Hill 4-0 when the Barbados Football Association’s Coca Cola Premier League continued last night at the AstroTurf in Wildey.

UWI Blackbirds had played four matches before the start of yesterday’s 7.p.m fixture and had gathered just two points from those matches after drawing two and losing two, but bounced back strong against a struggling Brittons Hill unit.

Teenager Tajio James showed his ability by scoring a brace. The young striker accounted for the lone goal of the first half scored in the 19th minute and produced his second in the 67th minute.

As the game progresses UWI controlled possession easily and extended their lead thanks to strikes from Devonte Richards and National Under-20 captain Niall Reid-Stephen in the 78th and 90th minutes respectively..

Brittons Hill did well on a few occasions to create plays that made it as far as the 18-yard box, but was unable to finish the job with the likes of Ramario Small running at UWI’s defence.

Despite UWI outclassing Brittons Hill, they are jointly tied on five points. The University lads are just ahead of Brittons Hill in the standings in seventh position thanks to a better goal difference, while Brittons Hill sits in eighth position.

Weymouth Wales are on top of the Premier League standings with 13 points while Paradise and Notre Dame are tied on ten points and are in second and third position respectively.
