BADMC Notice: Suspension of ordering service

The Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) has been forced to suspend its Produce Room Ordering Service, due to the overwhelming response from members of the public.

In a notice to customers, the BADMC expressed regret and apologized for the inconvenience caused, as it explained the high volume of orders received had “exceeded the capacity of our existing infrastructure to respond”.

The Corporation, however, gave the assurance that it was working to respond to the hundreds of requests received over the last few days, and to direct customers as best as it could.

It was against this background, that the BADMC announced that it has partnered with a number of local entities to facilitate delivery for its valued customers.  According to the notice, one of them is FarmFinder Global Inc., which has an existing online platform for ordering fresh local produce and other products.  Links to the FarmFinder Global Inc. website and other similar entities would be posted to the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation’s Facebook page.

Additionally, the BADMC said it would also be allowing “walk-in” customers (except on Sundays and public holidays) at its Produce Room, at Fairy Valley Plantation, Christ Church, as well as its Carmeta’s stores, located on its Fairy Valley compound, and at Prince Alice Highway, Bridgetown.

These locations will be open in keeping with the latest recommended Government stipulations, as it relates to store opening hours and the shopping schedule. The public has been reminded to follow the directives issued regarding shopping days, and to practise all prescribed health measures.

The BADMC thanked customers for their patience, understanding, cooperation and continued patronage, as it continues to support the local farming community. (BGIS)
