10-year-old drowning victim identified

Police have identified the victim of today’s drowning death in Christ Church as 10-year-old Dashawn DePeiza Best of Parish Land.

Police say they received a call just after 2 p.m. today where the caller reported that a young boy had drowned in a swimming pool located at an unoccupied residence at Providence Terrace.

A patrol from Oistins Police Station was immediately dispatched to the area and on their arrival officers confirmed the incident.

Ambulance personnel were summoned to the scene but they found no sign of life.

Best was pronounced dead at the scene.
