Flash-Flood Watch in effect for southern sections of Barbados

The Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Flash-Flood Watch in effect for southern sections of Barbados.

A Flash-Flood Watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) could result in

flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible.

A trough system is currently affecting the island, with the majority of heavy showers occuring to the south of Barbados. These heavy

showers are likely to impact the southern sections of Barbados and as a result, a Flash-Flood Watch is now in effect for these areas.

Maximum Rainfall Accumulations of 15.0 mm to 25.0 mm in heavy showers.

Residents and visitors should note that the following impacts are imminent during this forecast period :-. Some soil

erosion on bared or scarred land surfaces. Water settlements on roads and fields. Increases water levels of existing water bodies (e.g

ponds etc.). Some delays on traffic routes in the area.
