Police constable charged with burglary granted $30 000 bail

A police constable has been granted $30 000 bail in connection with a charge of burglary.

Deroy Leron Holder, from Mullins Terrace, St Peter, is accused of entering the house of Kaleb Burnett, as a trespasser, and stealing $2 800 cash, a safe worth $239.95 containing US$10 000 belonging to Burnett; a $2 500 ring belonging to Jalisa Griffith; and US$2 500 belonging to Denys Boyce; as well as two passports worth $300, the property of the Crown.

The items totalled $30 589. 95. The crime is alleged to have taken place on March 26.

The 40-year-old accused, who appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee this morning was granted bail with one surety.  Station Sergeant Cameron Gibbons represented the Crown and Harry Husbands was the accused’s lawyer.

As part of the conditions, he must surrender his passport to the court and report to the District ‘E’ Police Station every Wednesday before 6 p.m.

The accused is scheduled to return before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on November 9.
