Shop-EDGE.co is the result of a partnership over the last two years between the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Caribbean Export Development Agency, the European Development Fund and the Caribbean Market Centre. Speaking at the venture’s launch of the venture at the Newton Industrial Park on Friday, NCF Senior Business Development Officer Andre Hoyte who coordinated the project said: “We had targeted 30 collections to be produced in a fashion cluster over a two-year period, and the products will be available for sale on the website shop-EDGE.co. NCF Senior Business Development Officer Andre Hoyte. “Videos have been produced highlighting the collection in keeping with current trends, and we have also produced a print catalogue of the items featuring the work of Barbadian designers.” NCF Chief Executive Officer Carol Roberts-Reifer. Declaring the project “an amazing achievement”, NCF Chief Executive Officer Carol Roberts-Reifer sad: “It is a beautifully crafted example of what is possible in an environment of adversity. “Even amidst COVID, fledgeling designers from across the Caribbean came together and created this project, and we should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished here. “We also owe the Caribbean Export Development Agency a debt of gratitude for funding this venture under the current circumstances.” The Caribbean Export Development Agency’s Service Specialist Allyson Francis said she believed the creative sector will be one of the major driving forces that will help Caribbean economies to thrive.
