Barbados’ Olympic team announced

Eight of Barbados’ talented athletes in the disciplines of swimming and track and field will be on show at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

During a press conference held this morning at the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) headquarters in Wildey, St. Michael, BOA Vice-President Cameron Burke made the official announcement.

Pan American Games Gold medalists and 110m hurdler Shane Brathwaite, sprinters Mario Burke and Tristan Evelyn, quarter milers Jonathan Jones and Sada Williams along with 400m hurdles Tia-Adana Belle are the six chosen to represent Barbados on the track.

Meanwhile, swimmers Alex Sobers and Danielle Titus has been selected. Sobers is scheduled to make his second appearance at the Olympics. Titus will make her first appearance at the Olympics accompanied by national swimming great Leah Simone Martindale-Stancil. (ML)
