Virgin Atlantic flying higher with ‘300 per cent more’ daily flights

British carrier Virgin Atlantic Airways is bumping up its flights to Barbados and elsewhere in Caribbean countries by 300 per cent to keep up with a surge in demand for travel, it said Thursday.

Virgin Atlantic said it has brought forward to July 15 the resumption of daily Caribbean flights from August.

According to Hannah Swift, Caribbean Country Manager at Virgin Atlantic: “There’s been a long pent up demand for travel and as restrictions are lifted from more Caribbean routes, we are excited to welcome even more passengers back on board and look forward to reconnecting them to friends and family across the UK.”

Barbados is set to increase its UK services from twice weekly to seven times weekly by next Thursday and by August 8, to ten times weekly, the airline said.

Virgin Atlantic announced that it will introduce the newest and largest aircraft in its fleet, the flagship Airbus A350, five times weekly on its Barbados service from the beginning of August, offering 335 seats per flight, private suites and social spaces.

The airline said it plans to return to its home airport in the north of England, Manchester, from August 8.

Flights from Barbados to Manchester will operate three times weekly on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The airline is also making its return to Grenada, with twice weekly flights resuming from 16 July.  (SD/PR)
