Local News Company focused on ‘greening’ Barbados Today26/08/20210217 views Investment in green energy and innovative technology solutions is critical for the corporate structure and vision of Goddard Enterprises Ltd (GEL). Managing Director and CEO, Anthony Ali, during a press conference on Tuesday, noted that GEL is at the forefront, in the region, of investing in green energy solutions. “Goddard has a strategy of investing in green technology – most people do not know this but I would hazard to guess we are one of the top private producers of electricity in the Caribbean. We have invested significantly in photovoltaic systems; we produce right now over ten megawatts of power on our buildings across the region and we have another six megawatts being installed as we speak,” he revealed. The reliance on technology solutions during the pandemic is also important for GEL. Ali said the company is in the process of investing further in this market. One investment which has flourished during the last several months was the company’s online portal, OrderUpGo.com, which is designed to facilitate the purchase of food and services from several companies which operate under the GEL umbrella. “It’s almost like an electronic mall. You can go on and not just order food, but the intent is to bring on other companies to place an order and have it delivered to your home. Right now, we have Purity Bakeries on there, McBride is on there, Hanschell Inniss is on there, GCG restaurants are on there… and we are loading on third-party organisations. “It’s almost like Uber Eats, but we want to go well beyond just food.” (SB)
