Health-care worker dies suddenly

A health-care worker attached to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital died suddenly this morning, the hospital said.

The victim has been identified as Ruben Wiggins.

“The Board, Management and Staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital express their deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of one of our healthcare heroes, Mr Ruben Wiggins,” the hospital said in a statement.

Wiggins died suddenly while carrying out his duties as an orderly attached to the operating theater in the early hours of the morning, the QEH said.

The hospital said every effort was made to resuscitate him by the medical team but unfortunately was unsuccessful.

“The QEH in keeping with hospital policy will carry out the necessary procedures to determine the cause of death. May he Rest In Peace,” the hospital said.
