Pooling together for greater sustainability

A new business support organisation has been launched in Barbados that will see the pooling of resources among micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) while championing their cause and advocating on their behalf.

The Bajan Alliance of Businesses (BAB) was introduced recently, with officials promising that it will provide a needed hand-holding for struggling firms.

In fact, describing the organisation as “a melting pot of businesses from several sectors looking out for each other”, BAB president Nicole Johnson said the support system would ensure that firms always have a solution.

“We aim to work together to help build each other through professional business patronisation and referral opportunities.

“We aim to be an organisation of business people who look out for each other’s business, operating by the highest degree of professionalism, integrity and strong business standards and practices,” she said.

“In addition, several training areas will be offered to struggling businesses and companies with deficiencies in specific areas, thus giving them a fighting chance to survive. We will hold each other’s hands,” she declared.

Johnson, who was addressing the recent launching ceremony, explained: “We talk about holding each other’s hands; we want to be that platform, that network that hold each other’s hands and support each other in every way possible.

“You don’t want to start today and your business fails because you do not have any support system. So, we want to do everything we can to help”.
