Duguid confident of BLP’s chances

Christ Church West Member of Parliament Dr William Duguid believes the ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP) will be returned to power in the January 19, 2022 general elections.

Barbados TODAY caught up with him as he visited Sargeant’s Village on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the announcement of the snap election.

He said the Government had done well despite the many challenges faced over the past year and he was certain the BLP would gain a second term in office.

“Clearly, having to deal with the pandemic, the volcanic and [Hurricane Elsa and the freak storm] would have made things difficult, but this Barbados Labour Party government has persevered and I am fully confident that the people will repose their confidence in us as they did last time,” said Dr Duguid.

The Member of Parliament who also serves as Minister of Housing and Lands was one of several BLP candidates who started reconnecting with constituents on the campaign trail on Tuesday.

He said the response so far had been “very heartening.”

“We made the decision to kick off our canvassing in Sargeant’s Village, specifically in Bartlett’s Tenantry Road which was one of the projects we completed and we also managed to get a lot of other things done which people had been requesting,” the incumbent said. (DH)
