Pine Hill Dairy launches new educational initiative

Nourishing the minds of Barbados’ youth is the aim of the Pinehill Dairy’s latest community initiative.

Category Manager, Dana Rock-Murray said during a tree planting ceremony at the Springer Memorial Secondary School (SMSS): “We want to help make learning fun by strategically placing learning cues within the classrooms and throughout the school to help further their knowledge.

“Springer welcomed us with open arms and we look forward to continuing this relationship to see how we can further help students here and at other schools throughout the island,” she added.

Among the educational installations featured in the dairy’s initiative are protractor floor stickers, wall vinyl
of the dairy’s character Calfie demonstrating longitude and latitude, and staircases with mathematics, grammar and science rules.

An eye-catching mural, placed on an exterior wall, was also designed to celebrate the institution’s academic and athletic achievements, and echo the message of the dairy’s initiative.

Springer’s principal Mitchell Maxwell, expressed her delight at the initiative, saying the mural has a “wonderful impact” on the wall, and the installations align with the school’s mission to ensure that their students are exposed to quality education every day.

“These visual cues will serve to inspire, as we continue to engage and mentor our students towards embracing academic opportunities as well as athletic opportunities,” she said.

Marketing manager Charles Walcott of Anheuser- Busch InBev’s said the intent is to continue the legacy of Barbados’ lone dairy producer’s community involvement.

“It’s just not a product, it’s more than that. So we want to make sure people are having fun with the product and learning as we go ahead.”

He revealed that the initiative will continue throughout the year, with plans for more educational installations in other secondary and primary schools.

“We want to continue to be part of the community and there will be more things happening as well,” he said.

“We’re actually looking at doing some other exciting projects within communities throughout the island, to not just improve the surrounding, but to make sure people are having a good time with exciting engagements through Pinehill Dairy.” (PR)
