COVID-19 Update: 178 new cases

Barbados recorded 178 new cases of COVID-19, 77 males and 101 females from the 758 tests carried out on Thursday, May 26, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 35 persons under the age of 18, and 143 who were 18 years and older. There were 61 people in isolation facilities, while 2,393 were in home isolation. As at May 26, the number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded stands at 444.

The public health laboratory has conducted 684,013 tests since February 2020, and recorded 80,038 COVID-19 cases (36,558 males and 43,480 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,329 (71.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 152,723 (56.4 per cent of the total population or 66.9 per cent of the eligible population.
