COVID-19 Update: 345 new cases

A total of 345 people, 144 males and 201 females, tested positive for COVID-19 from the 1,057 tests conducted on Tuesday, August 16, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 58 persons under the age of 18, and 287 who were 18 years and older.

There were 67 people in isolation facilities, while 3,311 were in home isolation.

As of August 16, there were 525 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 745,649 tests since February 2020, and recorded 98,622 COVID-19 cases (44,581 males and 54,041 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 163,082 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 154,208 (56.9 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
