French King releases EP ‘Anxiety’

Rashad ‘French King’ King, a rapper and songwriter from Barbados, recently released his Extended Play (EP) five-track album Anxiety  and is seeking to show the world his vulnerable side with his self-penned album.

French King said writing his EP was emotional for him as he had been away from the music industry for a while due to personal reasons, but when he returned, he decided to turn some of his deep conversations with close friends and family into his EP.

“Life happened, and I kept doing music in private, but I could not find a balance in my life to make time for the studio and the years just flew by. Then I realised that five years had passed. This EP is so personal to me as I took experiences of my own to write the songs. I want that when people listen to it, they feel emotionally attached to the lyrics, and it leaves them feeling inspired,” he said.

The former student of The Learning Centre said he became passionate about music when he was eight years old and decided that he wanted music to be an integral part of his life. So much so that he knew that he wanted to be a successful rapper in the future, and he is definitely on his way to achieving that.

What is his favourite song from his album Anxiety? “My favourite song changes from time to time. It was Mood Swings but now it is Leave Me Alone… an emotional getaway song. I think I connect with it more because that is how I have been feeling lately. So I have a deeper connection and appreciation for it,” he said.

French King, who is managed by Born For Music Entertainment, said that while he is inspired by Bob Marley, 2 Pac, Kendrick Lamar, and Maxi Priest, his sound comes from his soul. “I am inspired by a lot of people. However, when I am making my music, I tend to make music that stems from our current reality. I like to call it ‘reality music’ as it has to move me and be real for me to start the writing process,” he said.

French King’s EP is available on Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal. (Write Right PR Services)
