COVID-19 update includes two deaths

Over the last two weeks ending January 20, there were 252 new COVID-19 cases made up of 136 males and 116 females.

These were recorded from the 1940 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory from January 7.

The positive cases included 22 persons under the age of 18, while 230 persons were 18 years and older. As of January 20, 16 persons are hospitalised; two deaths were recorded for the period bringing total deaths from COVID-19 to 571.

The public health laboratory has carried out 790,354 tests since February 2020, and recorded 106,157 COVID cases.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 163,833 or 60.5 per cent of the eligible population.

The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 155,010 which represents 57.2 per cent of the total population. (BGIS)
