Bayview Hospital and Diagnostic Radiology Services yesterday joined forces in the fight against cancer via financial support of the 2023 Ladies Golf Open at Royal Westmoreland. The proceeds of the tournament go directly towards the Breast Cancer Society Breast Screening Programme.

The golf event, despite its name, featured male and female golfers bedecked in the signature pink of the Breast Cancer Awareness movement in a two-day demanding yet enjoyable event. Each year’s fund-raising efforts assist the Programme with its mandate to make breast cancer screening affordable and accessible for women and girls in Barbados.

\Medical Coordinator of the Barbados Cancer Society’s Breast Screening Programme Dr. Shirley Jhagroo confirmed this year’s funds will help with the safe storage and custody of mammograms and screening records.

Administrator of the Bayview Hospital, Jules Reid confirmed the importance of Bayview and Diagnostic Radiology Services coming on board to assist the worthy cause. “It is important for men and women to have regular mammograms to ensure early detection, and this programme ensures no Barbadian is left wanting due to financial lack,” Reid shared.

Bayview’s history and proven track record of providing effective, patient-centred healthcare to thousands of Barbadians yearly fit perfectly with the Programme’s modus operandi. (PR)
