8 PM Update: Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect

A tropical storm watch is issued when sustained winds of 34 to 63 knots (39 to 73 mph; 63 to 118km/h) associated with a tropical storm or hurricane is possible to affect Barbados within 48 hours.

At 8:00 PM, on Wednesday 21st, June 2023 the center of Tropical Storm Bret was located near 13.4N 54.6W or approximately 322MI (519KM) east of Barbados. Tropical storm Bret continues to move westward at 15MPH (24KM/H) towards the Lesser Antilles with maximum sustained winds near 65 MPH (100KM/H) and a minimum central pressure of 1000MB.

The center of Bret and its strongest winds are expected to pass approximately 58MI (93KM) to the north of Barbados late Thursday evening 22nd June 2023, Regardless of this, winds gusting possibly to storm force is likely during this period. Given Bret’s close proximity to the north of the island, a tropical storm watch remains in effect.
