Local News News Emancipation Conversation: Three Legends, Three Perspective, One Conversation: Reparations and Beyond Barbados Today30/07/20230385 views As the call for reparatory justice advances and intensifies, with key colonial powers and institutions publicly apologising for, and condemning, the ills and evils of the transatlantic slave trade and slavery, it is important that as the conversation evolves, and the movement makes headway, that our people are kept informed and abreast of all new developments. It is also critical that they are at the centre of what should constitute reparatory justice and what it means for them and their households. The Emancipation Conversation roundtable serves as one of the platforms for engaging our public on these issues. The Emancipation Conversation roundtable will be a stimulating exchange that seeks to bring the discourse of Africa and the Caribbean’s fight for freedom, rights, and justice to the younger generations. From these conversations, the Government of Barbados seeks to reignite within Barbadians the desire to protect and promote their national identity and to be guarded against new strategies of bondage whether psychological, economic or political. The Season of Emancipation is celebrated annually in Barbados from April 14th – August 27th, and the Emancipation Conservation series culminates the activities of the 2023 Season of Emancipation in Barbados, which is being celebrated under the theme, “Reimagining the Past, Celebrating the Future.” ]]>
