Man’s body found floating in the Careenage

Police at the Central Station are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ronald Michael Brathwaite, 66, of Nelson Street, The City, whose body was found floating in the Careenage, Bridgetown, about 6:25 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say the Operations Control Centre received a call from a male stating that there was as body floating in the Careenage.

Police responded and saw the body floating, face down in the area of the old Waterfront Cafe. The body was retrieved from the water with the assistance of Barbados Coast Guard personnel.

A Medical Doctor pronounced death at the scene and the body was identified by a family member.

Investigations are continuing.
