Entertainment Local News News Malachi Hope seeks to showcase his vulnerability in new album Barbados Today12/11/20230300 views Malachi ‘CRXW’ Hope is seeking to take the Hip-Hop industry by storm with his new single On The Road. Hope, 21, who is a former student of the Alexandra Secondary School, said the album was inspired by him wanting to showcase his vulnerability in his music. “When I was young, I always had a love for music as my mom played various forms of music in our home — Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop. Around the age of 11-12 … I became inspired by artistes such as Lil Wayne and decided to start to try writing my own rap songs. Writing the song was spontaneous as I had a theme I wanted to go with to showcase my vulnerability and I would go on YouTube and search for beats,” he said. Hope, who is also an award-winning spoken word artiste, said that persons would appreciate his honesty in his debut song On The Road, which is available on all major streaming platforms. “I think persons would appreciate the honesty as it is very real music. I do not try to be someone that I am not. I try to show all parts of me both the good and the bad that make me who I am as an individual. I hope the public would appreciate the honesty and vulnerability in the song,” he said. Hope is managed by BFM Entertainment. He is working on his debut album Pain, Raws and Deep Thoughts, which is set to be released very soon on all social media platforms. “I wanted a name that described what the album was about. Why would I not mention some of the things that were needed to write the project? Pain — due to the pain I feel emotionally that I needed to express, as well as deep thoughts to have a meditation and a higher sight to be able to say what I think freely. A lot of the stuff that I am speaking on in the EP is stuff that is happening in my personal life and experiences. It covers my feelings of being imperfect and not being able to do things right and I believe that persons would resonate with that,” he said. His upcoming album’s sound will be a dark grungy sound, which was deliberate, to convey the main theme of pain, raws and deep thoughts. “I always find it a bit challenging to describe my sound as I am very keen on versatility and being able to do multiple genres and styles. I do not have a particular sound that I place myself in. However, what I want persons to take away from listening to the album is that the music conveys the emotions of fighting for that freedom whilst understanding what freedom encompasses,” he said. On September 3 Hope he released his single On The Road on all streaming platforms and also performed it at The Sage Bar at Frenetic Arts Poetry Lime where it was well received by all of the patrons in attendance.
