Retirees deny theft charge

Thieves wear black hats, pry windows, steal things.

Two retirees have pleaded not guilty to stealing over $9 000 in goods and cash.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, Rae Enid Rambally, 87, and Nadya Karen Denise Rambally, 62, both of Rockley Terrace, Christ Church, denied entering the dwelling house of Rodica John as trespassers and stealing $8 500 in cash,  a fridge valued at $150, a microwave valued at $50, a toaster oven valued at $50, four hams valued at $228, two packs of fish valued $136, and vegetables valued at $32 – with a total value of $9 171 – belonging to John.

The accused were each placed on $2 500 bail after there was no objection from the prosecution.

Magistrate Weekes warned the duo to stay away from the virtual complainant, John.

The matter was adjourned until February 13.
