The Final Nail

I read with interest an article by Dr Dawn-Marie Armstrong on page 18 in the Midweek Nation of Wednesday 3rd April, 2024 entitled ‘Cricket Players Deserve to be Paid’.

Dr Armstrong suggests that the Barbados Cricket Association should pay the club cricketers per match for participating in the domestic season. In my opinion, if such a suggestion were to be adopted, it would drive the final nail in the coffin of local clubs (with very few exceptions) and herald the demise of the domestic club structure.
