Courts has officially opened its newest and most expansive superstore at W Plaza, Welches, further solidifying its presence in Barbados’ retail landscape. The 20,000-square-foot store, located in the rapidly growing commercial hub, promises an upgraded shopping experience with a wider selection of products from top international brands.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of Unicomer Barbados Ltd, Trisha Tannis, told Barbados TODAY that the opening of the store is an important milestone of the company’s 60 years of operations in Barbados.

“It will be about 60 years this year since Courts first cut the ribbon at our Bridgetown store, [which] was pretty much the first flagship location in Barbados,” she said. “This essentially marks a coming of age for us, and it represents what is the new standard for retail, certainly within the Unicomer universe.”

Tannis emphasised that the larger, more modern space not only enhances the shopping experience but also allows the company to consolidate its various brands under one roof.

“We are really happy to bring this to the Barbadian public, it is really very spacious, and it allows us to consolidate all of our various brands under one house. It really lends for a superior shopping experience with the customer as well. We have actually grown pretty rapidly through some of our smaller locations, and we are at a stage now where we thought we should consolidate and offer a more spacious environment … really bring our standards to what easily can be described as international standards of merchandising,” Tannis explained.
