Pelicans topple Rainforest Rangers by seven wickets

The Barbados Pelicans delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Guyana Rainforest Rangers by seven wickets in the 13th match of the West Indies Breakout League at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, the Guyana Rainforest Rangers posted a modest total of 153 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Kevlon Anderson anchored the innings with a well-constructed 69, while Quentin Sampson provided late fireworks with an unbeaten 43. However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered against a disciplined Pelicans bowling attack.

Young pacer Kadeem Alleyne was the standout bowler for Barbados, claiming 2 for 19 in his four overs, stifling the Rangers’ momentum in the middle overs.

In reply, the Barbados Pelicans made light work of the target, cruising to 156 for 3 in just 16.2 overs. Opener Shaqkere Parris was in sublime touch, smashing an unbeaten 85 off just 54 deliveries, laced with crisp boundaries and powerful strikes.

He found solid support from Alleyne, who contributed a brisk 24, capping off an excellent all-around performance. Kevin Wickham chipped in with 23.

The Guyana bowlers had no answers to the Pelicans’ aggressive approach, with only Ronaldo Alimohamed managing some control, finishing with figures of 1 for 16. (CMC)
