UWI to host Media-thon for Hurricane Melissa relief

The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus will host a live media-thon this Sunday, November 16, to raise funds for families in Jamaica affected by Hurricane Melissa.

The One Love Jamaica Media-thon will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. from the campus’ TV studio and will be carried live on UWITV, Starcom Network, CBC, and other regional stations.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica last month leaving widespread damage across southern and western parishes, displacing families and destroying homes and other critical infrastructure including schools, churches and hospitals.

Sunday’s four-hour programme will include interviews with storm-affected residents, regional agencies, and journalists who covered the hurricane’s impact.

Barbados TODAY is among the media partners supporting the initiative.
