Man shot during brazen robbery in Black Rock

Police launched a swift investigation after a brazen daylight robbery on Black Rock Main Road left a man shot and wounded on Wednesday.

 

Police spokesman Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, said in a statement that the Black Rock Police Station is investigating the incident which occurred around 11:10 a.m. near the Black Road Main Road-Deacons Road junction. 

“Initial investigations have shown that a male and a female were on the premises of a business establishment, when they were approached by an assailant brandishing a firearm,” Insp Brathwaite said. “He robbed the female of her property and discharged the firearm causing injury to the male, before fleeing the area.”

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics. No further details were provided on the extent of his injuries.

As investigations into the robbery continue, the police urged members of the public to assist.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have any information that may assist us to please contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1800-8477, Police Emergency at 211 or the Black Rock Police Station at 417-7500 or 417-7501,” the release said.
