Painter fined for drug importation

A 35-year-old painter has been sentenced after pleading guilty to drug charges.

Damien Stephen Warrick, of Husbands Crescent, St Michael, reappeared in court on four counts arising from offences committed on September 29, 2022. Warrick was arrested at the Bridgetown Port after collecting a package at Shed 2.

Police discovered 81 vacuum-sealed packages containing cannabis weighing 3.6 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of $28 800. He was then charged with drug possession, trafficking, intent to supply, and importation.

Magistrate Manila Renee imposed a $2 000 fine for the importation charge, to be paid within two weeks.

On the charges of trafficking and intent to supply, he was reprimanded and discharged. For possession, Warrick was placed on a one-year bond to keep the peace, failing which he must pay $2 000 within two weeks or serve one month in prison.
