Top Barbadian golfer Emily Odwin finished runner-up at the Briars Creek Invitational, with her Southern Methodist University Mustangs finishing in 13th place in the team standings.

Odwin recorded her best collegiate finish during the two-day tournament, shooting rounds of 69 and 70.

She birdied her last hole to move from tied for third into a share of second place, besting her previous best finish of third place.

The impressive showing moved her team-leading season scoring mark down to 72.14, currently fifth lowest by a Mustang. Her career scoring average sits at 72.37, second best at SMU behind Mackenzie Lee.

The tournament was shortened to 36 holes because of bad weather on Monday, with the final 18 holes being played the following day with the Mustangs in 11th place.

The team ended in 13th place after a ten-over final day. Five ranked teams finished ahead of the Mustangs including No. 12 UCF.

Next up, the Mustangs return to the course for the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth. The tournament runs March 22-24.
