PSV operators withdraw services

Operators of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) declare that enough is enough.

Scores of drivers have parked their vehicles leaving passengers stranded at the Lower Green Van Stand and the Constitution River Terminal.

Operators who ply the Speightstown route are also off the road.

The operators insist they are not on board with the new uniform policy proposed by the Transport authorities, which require them to wear shirts bearing the Transport Authority logo.

The operators maintain that they cannot support the policy, which prevents them from wearing their own logos on the shirts.

On Monday, Minister in Ministry of Transport, Works and Maintenance Peter Phillips met with officials of the Barbados Transport Authority, representatives of the Association of Public Transport Operators (APTO) and Alliance of Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) to discuss the matter.

They agreed to pushed back the implementation date for the new uniform policy until March 1.
