Senior national footballer Armando Lashley scored a beaver-trick as Paradise Football Club trounced Clayton’s Kola Tonic Notre Dame 9-0 to record the biggest win of the 2019 Barbados Football Association Premier League season at the Wildey, St Michael AstroTurf last night.

Lashley showed brilliant form as he ran roughshod over Notre Dame’s defence with goals in the 19th, 39th, 41st and 81st minutes respectively.

Also cashing in on goals up for grabs was striker Dario Harewood with a brace in the fourth and 48th minutes. Where braces were concerned national youth player Sherian Hoyte accounted for two goals in the 71st and 79th minutes after earlier in the second half being denied a goal by centre referee Gillian Martindale.

Senior national midfielder Ackeel Applewhaite is known for creating spaces and the ability to penetrate any backline and he did just that to score a goal in the 23rd minute.

All teams in zone two have played eight matches so far, and Paradise have an unbeaten record of five wins and three draws.

It was horrific for Notre Dame’s defence yesterday, and there was absolutely nothing their usual inspiration veteran former national John ‘Nobby’ Parris and company could do that could have stopped the men from Dover, Christ Church. It just rained goal and greedy paradise supporters were stating after the game that the defeat could have been heavier.

Paradise are now second overall in the zone two standings on 18 points behind table leaders Empire Club on a total of 21 so far in round one action.

Empire have played eight games, won seven and lost one with a goal difference of 11 with 16 for and five against.

The second out of zone clash featured University of the West Indies Blackbirds from group one coming up against former three-time defending champions Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme.

UWI picked up the win over BDFSP compliments Kobe Shepherd who got the ball rolling in the 20th minute and five minutes later in the 25th striker Romell Bynoe made it 2-0.

Despite the loss, BDFSP remain third in zone two behind Empire and Paradise. The soldiers are on 14 points followed closely by Crane and Equipment Ellerton with 12 in the fourth position while the bottom two teams are St. Andrew Lions on 10 and Youth Milan a mere two.

St. Andrew Lions picked up a comfortable 2-0 win when they took on Brittons Hill from zone one.

Bruno Da Silva and senior national player Darico King were the goal-scorers in the 35th and 83rd minutes respectively.

Defending champions, Weymouth Wales Football Club on 11 points are leading zone one from three wins, two draws and three losses.

UWI have scored three wins, had two draws and suffered three losses and are trailing in second place also with 11 points with a goal difference of five compared to that of six which have given Wales the slight edge.

In third is Porey Spring on nine points followed by Barbados Soccer Academy on eight in fourth place. Brittons Hill are just ahead of Notre Dame on five points at the bottom of zone one.
