Naomi tipped to win thriller

By Kent Layne

Naomi will be going after her consecutive stakes score in The Michael Parravicino Memorial Hopeful Breeders Stakes and Trophy for locally bred three-year-olds going 1570 meters this afternoon.

Having won the Sales Graduates Futurity Stakes going 1570 meters on December 8 in her last start defeating Marie Aurore in the process, the daughter of freshman sire AshDan will be seeking her third win in five starts and looks like the early favourite as she has been no worse than second in her career.

Noami will make her departure from gate 8 and will have her regular jockey Rickey Walcott in the saddle.

The Michael Parravicino Memorial race 7 headlines a very appetizing eight-race programme and will run off at 4:45p.m. and with a purse of $26 000 plus nominations of $18.955.

Sir Charles Williams-owned Good Vibration is the only horse in the field to have defeated Naomi when she won the Massy United Insurance Staff Trophy on August 1 and then the Double Draw Breeders Stakes and Trophy on November 10t both going 1100 meters. The classy three-year-old filly went down into second place last Boxing Day in her 1570 meter debut tasting defeat from Marie Aurore and will be looking to make a turnaround in position.

Anderson Trotman will be the pilot once again on the talented filly who like Noami has been no worse than second in four starts.

Owner Suzanne Miller who owned 2017 winner Fleurette will be looking to make it two wins in the last three years as she has entered Marie Aurore who had beaten Good Vibration in her last start in the Boxing Day Nursery Trophy giving her three pounds in the process with Good Vibration taking 116 and Marie Aurore 119 as her jockey carried overweight on that day.

Marie Aurore and her stablemate SeventeenMillionus are the only horses to have defeated Good Vibration and add exciting spice.

Nine animals in the ten-horse field have placed in the top three in their last starts and this race is building up to be a scorcher down to the wire as there are very talented horses that have been entered. Horse number 4 San Pedro the lone colt entered in the field finished fifth to Marie Aurore on Boxing Day.

The Richard Deane-trained Time After Time had shown her blistering early speed in the Boxing Day Nursery Stakes just to be caught in the last furlong by Marie Aurore and Good Vibration to finish third.

The rest of the talented field is made up of Fast Cash who has one win and two second places in three starts, Seventeenmillionus, Nzinga, Kitkat, and Sydneyisasuperstar.

Post time for the first race is 1:30p.m.

My Selection: Naomi, Good Vibration, Marie Aurore, Time After Time.
