Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn last night made this revelation during ICBL’s 40th anniversary celebration at Sandals Royal, Christ Church, where he also announced the coming on stream of a commercial court to speedily settle insurance claims and other business disputes. “One of the upgrades that the Government of Barbados is currently working on is to ensure that when it comes to accident reports by the Royal Barbados Police Force, that we digitize that process completely,” he said. Pointing out to the insurers present that this will greatly benefit insurance companies in efficient processing of insurer benefits he said, “we feel that given this technological intervention that your assets need not be tied up unnecessarily and that speedy resolution with respect to not just the settlement of the claims can be done”. “At the same time, we are trying to make sure that we introduce a commercial court which will be used to settle some of those longstanding disputes which arise within the insurance space.”
