Businessman remanded on drug related charges

A 56-year-old businessman charged in connection with over ten million dollars worth of cannabis and cocaine has been remanded to jail until March 19.
George Reginald Ivan Parris, of No. 318 Inch Cape Terrace, Well House, St Philip was not required to plead to the indictable charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, possession with intent to traffic 1028.4 kilos of cannabis, which has a BDS$9,049,920 estimated street value and 22.7 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of BDS$1,135,000 on February 14.


He is further accused of importing the two illegal substances between February 5 and 6 in the District ‘A’ jurisdiction.
According to police, the drugs were reportedly found in a container shipped to a business located in St John.
He was remanded to Dodds by Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch despite lengthy submissions from his lawyers Queen’s Counsels Michael Lashley and Hall Gollop.
