Court Fraud accused secures bail Barbados Today13/03/20190105 views A 29-year-old man got to go home yesterday after spending seven days on remand at HMP Dodds. Fraud accused Hubert Artis Larocque, of Lower Burney, Mapp Hill, St Michael was sent to the St Philip institution last week after he was unable to make contact with a surety to post $10, 000 on his behalf. When he reappeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick yesterday that changed for him as his surety was present in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court. After signing the necessary court documents Laroque was released from his restraints and given a July 24, 2019 date to reappear in court. He was charged along with Alexander Moses Raven, 29, of No 25 George Street, Belleville, St Michael with endeavouring to obtain $19,883.94 from RBC Royal Bank (Barbados) Limited via a cheque drawn on the account of Electric Sales and Service Ltd (ESSL) knowing it to be forged. His co-accused posted bail on his first court appearance. Larocque is further accused of intending to defraud by giving Raven a forged RBC Royal Bank (Barbados) Limited cheque made payable to him in the sum of $19,883.94 and drawn on the ESSL account while Raven is accused of uttering the forged instrument. The indictable charges were allegedly committed on February 21, 2019.
