Suttle Street man remanded on assault charge

A Suttle Street sander will spend the next seven days on remand after the prosecutor objected to bail on fears that he may interfere with the complainant who is the mother of his three-day-old baby.

Station Sergeant Carison Henry also submitted that bail should be denied to Rico Rashid Corbin, 26, as he followed Thandiwe Jemmott while she sought refuge.

Corbin is accused of assaulting Jemmott on Wednesday, occasioning her actual bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Douglas Frederick.

The accused was remanded to HMP Dodds until March 21 when the complainant is expected to appear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
