Court Weed trouble for general worker Barbados Today18/03/2019259 views A 31-year-old general worker has one month to save and pay the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court a $750 fine if he wants to avoid spending three months in prison. The fine was imposed on Pearson Philip Goodridge, of Block No. 1 Golden Acre, St Stephen’s Hill, Black Rock, St Michael, by Magistrate Douglas Frederick after he pleaded guilty to having 14 grammes of marijuana in his possession on March 14, 2019. According to Sergeant St Clair Phillips, Goodridge was spotted by police standing under a street light in his community. As they drew near he clenched an item in his fist and attempted to walk away. He was stopped and the vegetable matter was found contained in a plastic bag. “I don’t got no mother, I ain’t got no father . . . both died . . . I don’t get into trouble. I just smoke a little thing. I am not selling it or anything so,” the accused who is known to the court said. However, the magistrate told Goodridge that he had found himself in trouble with the law. “I don’t get in trouble . . . trouble like robbery and fighting, that sort of thing, I don’t get into nothing so,” Goodridge explained, before the fine was imposed.
