Nurses off the job

Nurses at the Sir Winston Scott polyclinic walked off the job this morning venting their frustration with security arrangements at the Jemmotts Lane, St Michael facility.

The workers are currently meeting with management, representatives of the National Union of Public Workers and Senator Caswell Franklyn, the general secretary of Unity Workers’ Union.

(more details as they come to hand.)

  • It is never good for a Country when TEACHERS , NURSES , FIRE DEPARTMENT or POLICE are upset with Government.

  • #MADAME PM MIA AMOR MOTTLEY SUH TEK SHE MEDICINE NOW YUH GINE BEE CURE IN 2025!!! #LOL!!! 360°

  • It would be good if the nurses at the QEH walk off the job too, cause GOVERNMENTS WONT LOOK TO HIRE NURSES, THERE ARE NURSES FROM GUYANA , JAMAICA, ST LUCIA AND ST VINCENT WHO WANT TO COME WORK AT THE QEH, i was told be a few older nurse at the QEH, that they need more staff, and ppl (NURSES) FLEXING ONLY MAKING PPL FEEL THAT THERE ARE A LOTS OF NURSES , you get nurses flexing today and then tomorrow dont come to work, specially if a nurse work the morning and the evening shift, SHE SAID THE NURSING OFFICER AT THE QEH, DONT KNOW WHAT GOING ON AND CANT MANAGE,, she say he turn a blind eye to many and most things, and she said it is unfair to ask some worker to work over time or flex and then dont want to pay them, wanting to give them back a day, some ppl say no if them work over time them want the money, when i did some checking i was told that over time money is there for every member of staff, not only NURSES , GENERAL WORKER AND ENGINEERING STAFF, AND MAINTENANCE STAFF, SO THE BOARD AT THE QEH NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS NOT PAYING OF OVER TIME WHEN OTHER STAFF WORK, THE DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES SHOULD BE ABLE TO TALK ON THIS, IF HE AINT PLAYING GOLF,

  • The people who do those jobs are usually very caring and it takes a lot to make them come out on strike. They put up with way more than they should before they react.

  • This was long time in coming....These Nurses and Doctors are the most overworked, abused, sacrificing individuals I have ever met. They are open to all forms of verbal and sometimes physical attacks from people who have mental problems or think that they should not have to wait like everyone else. This clinic is grossly understaffed and these workers go beyond the call of duty to give the best they can in a terrible work environment. Stick to your guns for a safer better day. 100% support here.
