Exciting rivalry awaits racing fans

Marie Aurore and Good Vibration will continue their rivalry in The Youthful Alliance Prep for locally bred three-year-old horses which headlines a nine-race card on Saturday, the seventh day of the first race season for 2019.

Marie Aurore, winner of the Boxing Day Nursery Trophy and Bajan Blue Restaurant Trophy will look to add a third major success to her career. The Youthful Alliance Prep will be going 1800 meters and has a purse of $18,500 and will be race 5 running at 3.20 p.m.

Marie Aurore and Good Vibration to battle it out again on Saturday.

Owned by Suzanne Miller and bred by Sir Charles Williams, the 3-year-old filly by Moon Solitaire started 2019 by finishing second to Naomi in the Michael Parravincino Memorial Hopeful Breeders Stakes and Trophy defeating Good Vibration into third place with both races going 1570.

The smart filly should have no trouble staying the trip, being out of Barbados Oaks winner Border Secret.

Marie Aurore returned to racing on March 3 in the Bajan Blue Restaurant Trophy getting home by a neck from Good Vibration and sets up yet another exciting clash.

The Victor Cheeseman-trained 3-year-old will carry 119 pounds with Affrie Ward who has been astride on her last two victories.

Good Vibration who like Marie Aurore was bred by Sir Charles Williams but is also owned by him will be looking for her first win over the sprint trip of 1100 meters.

The leading juvenile of last year has not won since going the longer trips. He placed second to Marie Aurore in the Boxing Day Nursery Trophy going 1570 meters and losing by a length and a quarter. He then finished third by a nose behind Marie Aurore again in the Hopeful Stakes. Race fans are in for a close battle once again.

Good Vibration will be ridden by 2019 Sandy Lane Gold Cup-winning jockey Rasheed Hughes who rode her for the first time on March 3 and will carry 119 pounds.

The Mr Arjay-owned Seventeenmillionus who won the first race for juveniles last year beating Good Vibration into second place in the Kiddies Kadooment Race, has not won since but has been in the frame in her starts and can’t be left out after coming off a creditable fifth place in the Hopeful Stakes. Seventeenmillionus will tote 119 pounds.

Raphael Green’s Nzinga had placed fourth in the Hopeful Stakes defeating Seventeenmillionus in the process. However, she ran a disappointing seventh in maiden company last race day and could strike back to her placing form here. Nzinga will take 112 pounds. Provence, War Cavalier and Loki complete the field.

My selection: Marie Aurore, Good Vibration, Seventeenmilionus, Nzinga.

Post time for the first race is 1:15 p.m.
